Ambassador Scholarship
The Ambassador Scholarship provides scholarships to high school seniors participating in the African Community Center’s Ambassador Program. The Ambassador Scholarship was created to transform families and communities by providing scholarships to support advanced education.
Eligibility:
Students who meet all of the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Have successfully completed the Ambassador Program offered by the African Community Center (ACC) of Denver, Colorado
- Be a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited public two-year or four-year Colorado college or university full-time for the upcoming academic year
- Be a Colorado resident who is eligible to pay in-state tuition rates
- Have a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.0 at the time of application
- Complete the FAFSA and/or can demonstrate unmet financial need
- Apply for at least two additional scholarships
Selection: Scholarships will be awarded once each year through a competitive process based on engagement in the community, resilience and persistence, positive leadership abilities, vision for the future, and academic proficiency.
If an applicant is selected to move on to the final round, finalists will be expected to provide a final presentation on a topic of their choice in front of the selection meeting.
Award: One student per year will be selected to receive a scholarship covering the student’s unmet need after all other financial aid and scholarships have been applied. Award amounts will vary based on a student’s need, other aid, and the cost of their school. The Ambassador Scholarship is renewable for up to four consecutive years provided that the student completes at least 12 credits per semester, maintains a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, completes the FAFSA, continues to have unmet financial need, and submits a renewal application each year.
Scholarship awards will be paid directly to the recipient’s school and can be used toward tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room and board, and other qualified educational expenses. Recipients may also request a one-time reimbursement for a computer and/or other supplies required by their school. Award disbursement is contingent upon the financial aid and scholarship acceptance policies of a recipient’s school.
Runner Up Scholarship: Two additional students will be eligible for a finalist scholarship of $2,500 for one year of college.
