Colorado Press Association Scholarship - High School Students

This scholarship program was created by the Colorado Press Association for high school seniors who have demonstrated commitment to the field of print and online journalism to continue their pursuit of study within this field.

Students who meet ALL of the following criteria are encouraged to apply.
- Will graduate from a Colorado high school in the spring of the term they are applying for the scholarship
- Have held at least one leadership position (e.g. editor, president, treasurer, etc.) in a student media organization like the high school newspaper, yearbook or media club during their senior year
- Will attend an accredited four-year college or university in Colorado in the fall
- Must plan to use their major in the print or online journalism industry in Colorado after college graduation. Please note that the following media related majors will not be eligible for this opportunity: multimedia, technical journalism, documentary film making, media students, and mass communications, etc.)

Selection: Recipients will be selected to receive a scholarship through a competitive process based on the quality of the samples of work submitted with the application (25%), demonstrated leadership (25%), academic achievement (25%), and the applicant’s level of participation in his or her school’s newspaper, yearbook, and/or media club (25%).

Award: Scholarship award will be paid directly to a recipient’s college or university and can be applied toward tuition, fees, books, and other education related expenses. Please note that award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship acceptance policies of a recipient’s school. This award is not renewable. An individual may only receive this award one time. Awards must be used for the upcoming academic year.
