Winifred R. Reynolds

Winifred R. Reynolds was a lifelong educator who was born in Los Angeles in 1909. She grew up in Ohio and received her master’s degree from the Palmer Institute. After teaching for many years in Fort Collins, Colorado, she moved to San Luis Obispo, California in 1968 to teach Early Childhood Development at California Polytechnic State University. Ms. Reynolds’ emphasis was on infancy and she was instrumental in creating a program that sent child development students into existing local preschools for hands-on training as part of their curriculum. Ms. Reynolds passed away on June 5th, 2001 at the age of 93. The Winifred R. Reynolds Educational Scholarship Fund, and a similar fund in California, were created through a bequest established in her will.
